Wants and Needs…

Have you ever seen “Along Came Polly?” In the movie, Ben Stiller has to decide between two women, his wife that cheated on him on their honeymoon and his girlfriend that wont even commit to calling herself his girlfriend. To help him decide, he makes a list of their good qualities and their bad ones.

I am constantly taking this approach with the things in my life. I’ve even used it to decide between a fiancé and a new boyfriend. As a somewhat free spirited person, I find myself analytical when it comes to decisions. I think it helps to see things in black and white, but even then I usually just do what makes me happy.

What does this have to do with me today? Well I have a certain amount of money I can spend freely, and I’m trying to decide what to do with it. I made a list of material things I both want and need…

Wants:

• Sony camcorder, so that none of Skylar’s childhood is forgotten. This new video camera has a hard drive, is DVD writeable, and memory stick compatible. Plus it has 60x zoom, not that I’ll ever be that far away from Skylar.

• New clothes, because maternity clothes don’t make sense after you have a baby and are almost back to pre-pregnancy size. Maybe this is a need?
• Converse, because my old ones are falling apart, and were stretched to they maximum when my feet were swollen in pregnancy. Plus who doesn’t want Converse?
• A tan, though it shouldn’t be material, a good tan costs money.

Needs:

• A $65 haircut, because my hair is in need of help and I feel pretty when I leave Visible Changes.
• Clothes, again because really it’s a necessity.
• To pay medical bills, because I didn’t get Medicaid when I was pregnant.

And although you can’t buy it, I need a man…I want him =)

Photo Friday...

I love my baby. I love my Nikon. This is what happens when they get together.

After the photo shoot Skylar got a bath, and I managed to get a headband to stay on her head without making her cry. I just can't stop taking pictures of her. She's just so cute!

P.S. Sky was 1 month old today.

One day I will...

• stop having all day pajama parties with my baby


• get back in touch with my friends


• clean my bathroom and my bedroom


• enjoy my food again instead of rushing to eat because she gets fussy


• sleep through the night


• buy regular clothes and stop wearing maternity jeans


• go see a movie


• go on a date
  

But for now, I'm just going to enjoy every minute with my sweet baby girl and remember those things will come--in time.

I love my baby, but she hates going to sleep. So I used to have to bounce with her all around the house for an hour or so before she would fall asleep, and even then she would wake up immediately after I put her down. But the other day, I found my new best friend--over-sized flannel blankets. One of the girls I work with made some for Skylar, and they're awesome. I just swaddle her like I did before with receiving blankets, but since these are so thick and warm, she goes to sleep really fast and stays asleep.

My friend Sara made the onesie Sky's wearing at a onesie decorating party we had back while I was pregnant. She looked so cute. I just love all her little clothes. I hope she gets to wear them all. Skylar dresses better than mommy these days. I'm having all day pajama parties, and she's dressed to go out.

My funny valentine...

My friend Lisa bought Skylar a bunch of Valentine's Day stuff so I just had to dress her up for the day. How adorable is she? I just love her so much!

Scrapping Sky

I'm attempting to start Skylar's scrapbook-an idea which sounds easier than it is. In three days I've managed to scrap three pages, which I think is pretty amazing considering Sky doesn't give mommy a lot of free time between nursing around the clock and fighting sleep as if it were the boogeyman.

Bathtime with Skylar

Skylar doesn't like baths. At all. She is pretty cuddly when they're over though. The black and white photo was after her bath when she decided she liked being held upright and tried to stand. It's currently my favorite picture of her.
