I love…

Big girl baths where she splashes around with the biggest grin on her face while trying to get her rubber ducky or foam letters.

How every time we go to a store like Target or Wal-Mart, I can’t help but buy her a new doll.

How interested she is in watching me cook.

How interested she is in everything.

That she likes looking in the mirror as much as I do. haha

That she knows who I am now, and it upsets her when I walk away.

When she wraps her arms around me and lays her head on my shoulder.

How no matter how bad my day was, when I come home to her smiling face, I know everything is going to be alright.

How stubborn she is. I wonder if she gets that from me. Or him.

Her big brown eyes.

The way she rubs her eyes when she’s sleepy.

That bedtime is 8pm. And she sleeps through the night.

The ways she sleeps with her arm around her praying bear. Every night.

Her vocal tangents. And the rare occasions she says mama. Mad and indiscriminately of course.

How good she smells after a bath.

Getting to know her.

Knowing I had a part in making something so amazing.

And everything else about her.

The Matrix Effect…

So my army guy told me he loved me one night while we were lying in bed. He rolled me over, looked me right in the eye and it went like this:

K: Baby I love you.

W: Shhh…go back to sleep. You're sleepy.

K: You don’t like when I say that?

W: No.

K: Why not?

W: Because I just met you. Go to bed.

It got me thinking. About how amazing he is. About how amazing he is with Sky. About how I think I love him too. But my question is, would I have realized this had he not told me first? Or did his acknowledgement cause my epiphany?

One of the many reasons I like every other Friday…

I’m off work. And I get to spend all day with Sky. And the family. Last Friday after all my running around, I took the kiddos to the playground.

Sky is 6 months tomorrow!

Proof I can bake…

notice I didn’t say cook. Because I can’t. The only way I can cook is by following recipes, which is kind of the idea right? I want to learn to cook. But I’m such a picky eater, I probably wouldn’t want to eat the food I cooked, which is why I like to bake. I like sweets. And I’m not bad at it. I’m decent. I’ve always baked cakes from a box mix though, and the other day I made one from scratch. Red Velvet. From scratch. It was amazing.

My 5 Month Old This Week...

Sky and I went to Panera with my friend Stacey and her baby Mia last Friday. We got to dish and the girls got to play for a minute. We definitely need more Fridays.
My army guy also came down to see me Friday. He got to meet Sky, and he was amazing with her. I don't know if it was because he was trying to impress me or because he has a child of his own, but he was absolutely amazing with her. I think she fell in love with him by the way he had her cracking up. We took her to see the Fourth of July fireworks in Texas City yesterday, which apparently are unimpressive to a Louisiana boy. Sky didn't care for them much either, but hopefully next year will be different.Did I mention Sky likes to rock?

Rice Cereal…

I wanted to wait until Sky turned five months to start her on rice cereal, and last Saturday she did. Yesterday my mom and dad gave Sky her first taste of food…DSC_0298 Apparently my little chub chub is a natural. Doesn’t she look happy?
