Christmas this and that...

I made Sara the bag instead of decorating a stocking as planned. The stocking was just too small. It came out pretty well. Materials used: scrap paper, ribbon, glitter, sequins, stickers, etc.

My first from scratch sugar cookies turned out nicely. Made for the posse-Sara, Nikita, and Dan. Cookie ingredients: sugar, butter, vanilla extract, almond extract, flour, baking powder, eggs. Icing ingredients: confectioner's sugar, meringue powder, cold water, food color.

And just for fun a belly picture I'm in love with. Taken at almost 36 weeks by Valerie.

Car update: The ex fixed my heater and put my car back together. He is awesome! But there was one extra screw left over after.

Pictures in the park...

are best on a warm day. Unlike today.

Prep time: 1 hour

Shoot time: about 10 minutes

I had this great idea to take pictures of my nephews today, so I went to my sister's house and rallied the troops. Then we went outside and it was so cold. Still going with the plan we went to the park and attempted to take pictures...

My friend Stacey is amazing...

She's so creative! She made a boppy and slipcover for me the other day and it came out so great. She really should sell her stuff. I originally bought one at the store, but it was $50 so I took it back, I can't justify spending that much on a pillow. Plus with the one Stacey made, I was able to pick my own fabric, a cute toile Mother Goose pattern.

If you buy a car in May...

make sure the heater works.

So I discovered my newish, used car has a quirk---the heater blows cold air. Always one to give inanimate objects feelings, I gave it the benefit of the doubt. I tried and tried and tried to coax it to "warm up" but it was just no use. Now I like cold weather and could usually care less about my heater, in fact I try avoid them at all costs; but, I'm going to have a baby soon and she probably wont like cold weather like me-just yet. So what's a girl to do?

Call her ex-boyfriend of course. You know, the one that can do everything, or at least thinks he can. So I asked if he would look at it for me expecting a "yeah sure", with an underlying "yeah right". But for reasons unknown he agreed to look at it, and to my immense surprise actually did. He immediately decided it must be the "blend door actuator" and agreed to take my car apart and fix it-at no cost to me.

So today he came over and proceeded to take my dashboard apart in order to get to the actuators. Only when he did, he discovered the actuators aren't the problem-the heater flap thing is. Okay so that's not its technical name but I'm a girl so give me credit for my description.

This new discovery requires a new part, a part that can't be ordered until Monday, leaving my car in shambles for the next few days. I didn't really expect to feel pain for my car, but seeing it all taken apart is really a scary thing. My thoughts wander...What if he can't put it all back together? What if he doesn't even come back to try? Was this all some cruel joke to get back at me?

I think, well I'm almost positive my thoughts are ridiculous. Of course he'll come back and fix it, right? But it does leave me car less for the next few days. It's strange to think if I needed to go somewhere right now, I would have no way to get there. I mean I could always call someone, but I HATE depending on other people for things like that.

Update to come...hopefully positive. No really, I have tremendous faith in him. No worries.

Sky's room...

The baby shower...

My sister Valerie threw me a baby shower a few weeks ago. I was 31 weeks then, I've gotten so much bigger in two weeks. Its been a long time since all the attention was on me so it was different but very fun...and best of all, I got some great stuff for the baby. My talented sister made the deliciously chocolate cake. Also talented, my friend Stacey (the other prego), made the diaper cake pictured above. The best part was the tutu at the base. I can't wait to put my baby's butt in it! =) Thanks everyone!

The pregnancy so far...

So I'd have to say the most significant thing in my life right now is my pregnancy. As of today, I am 33 weeks pregnant. For those of you who can't do the math that means I only have 7 weeks left. And I'm very excited about that! Not that pregnancy has been bad by any means, but I just can't wait any longer to meet my little girl. The only thing I've really ever wanted was to have a family, and as things go I am finally going to get it...minus the husband. But I don't dwell on things.

This is my 20 week ultrasound. I found out she was a she, and immediately decided on Skylar as her name. I couldn't wait for this, and now it seems like my pregnancy is going by so fast. I wont have to wait for my baby much longer.
